Jabugo Ham Plate

No one should leave Spain without trying Jabugo ham. Yes, there are other types of ham (país; serrano) but the bellota ham from the Jabugo area is the best of the best. And what better place to taste it than at an authentic bodega in the Old Town, with friendly waiters, locals who come back again and again and tourists who discover it on their way to the Picasso Museum. It’s a great place, and their ham is wonderful. Make sure to have it with some of their tomato bread drizzled with fragrant olive oil. And don't overlook the other tapas set out on marble tables (you can’t go wrong there). Pimentones Rellenos de Queso, for example, are delicious sweet baby peppers stuffed with goat cheese that almost melt in your mouth. Accompany your selections with a bottle of the house wine: This beloved tapas restaurant has been serving its own brand of cava, called Xampanyet (pronounced champanyet: an allusion to “champagne”) since 1929.
