Satellite Restaurant
Hawaiian Pizza

If you are in Detroit and want to drive into Canada for a slice of history, Satellite is for you. A random experiment of adding pineapple to the traditional mix of tomato sauce and cheese with ham or bacon led to the invention of the Hawaiian pizza by Sam Panopoulos in 1962. It was inspired by his experience of preparing Chinese food with a mix of sweet and savory flavors. This has since triggered one of the greatest controversies in the food world with the President of Iceland denouncing the recipe while Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeted his defense of the sweet and salty divider of opinions.
