Anyukám Mondta
Pizza

In the sleepy village of Encz in the Tokaji wine region is an unlikely hidden gem. Run by two brothers who worked in Italy and then returned home, Anyukám Mondta is an Italian restaurant with a proper pizza oven and ingredients imported weekly from Italy. The menu goes well beyond pizza, but that is reason enough to visit. As well as the excellent base, the pizzas uses high quality San Marzano tomatoes from cult grower Paolo Petrilli of Puglia, more often seen in Michelin-starred restaurants wanting the very best. High grade Italian hams and cheeses are available too, though local produce is brought to the fore in the excellent fried chicken, with the bird from a local farm and having the kind of flavour most of us have long forgotten that chickens could have. The restaurant looks unassuming but has a pleasant terrace and garden at the back, and the service is friendly, the bill almost embarrassingly low.
