Hasir is one of the oldest Turkish grills in Berlin. Many Turkish migrant workers moved to Berlin in the '60s and '70s, becoming the largest immigrant population in the city. In an epic, historic dispute, Hasir's founder, Mehmet Aygün, claims he invented the döner kebab in 1971. However, most evidence supports that Kadir Nurman invented the dish in 1972. True or not, Hasir remains one of the oldest döner kebab eateries in existence in Berlin and the döner belongs to the city’s best.
