Hitchcock

On the ferry ride to Bainbridge Island, an imaginary line is crossed. The short walk from the terminal to your smoked sockeye appetizer at the restaurant means that you can leave your car and the hustle and bustle of the city back on the mainland. Stepping into Hitchcock Restaurant only amplifies the serenity, with its cool, sparse décor. The food is similarly unadorned, designed to show off the simplicity of the ingredients: local manila clams and octopus see only house-made guanciale, charred tomatoes, and herbs in the bowl. Hyper-local specialties like sea beans picked on the island or chickens from a nearby farm demonstrate the bounty of Bainbridge and the locals who forage and farm in the area, each dish executed with skill by chef Brendan McGill, in the restaurant named for his wife’s family, longtime residents of the island.
