South African Greg de Villiers has spent more than four years of living in and traveling around the Southern Cone - Peru, Chile, Uruguay, Brazil and Argentina, learning, listening, smelling, drinking, tasting, and licking his fingers. Currently living between Lima and Buenos Aires, working as a freelance writer and food photographer, he has also been quite smitten by charming little Uruguay and its wines and is now co-author of The Guide to the Wineries and Wines of Uruguay. In Buenos Aires he learnt to cook unreasonably big hunks of beef reasonably well, and in Lima he hopes to learn more about potatoes. He is a regular contributor for The Latin Kitchen as an expert on local food and restaurants.
