Stephen Block started The Kitchen Project in 1998. “The difference between cooking a recipe and doing a project is the development and evolution that happens when you research it and get creative minds involved.” He started the Kitchen Project with a family cookbook about the interesting life and recipes his German grandmother cooked while raising her family in Portland, Oregon. Stephan’s entire family contributed to the book to preserve the family’s culture and historical memories. The site has grown to include recipes, articles and reference tools for the food enthusiast, interesting food trivia and culinary history.
