This open restaurant in the old quarter is easy to find and has sold Hanoi’s signature lunch dish for years. Grilled pork soaked in a complex fish sauce-based broth is served with fresh rice vermicelli noodles and herbs. Meals are quite cheap, around 35,000 VND ($2 USD).  If you want yummy fried spring rolls, then ask for "nem." They are around 40 cents. This lunch place is still open after 2 p.m., unusually for Hanoi, and is a better time to arrive to avoid the main lunch rush.
