Kim Lian Kee
Kim Lian Kee is widely recognized as the birthplace of Hokkien Mee. To find it, simply listen to the sound of large metal spatulas turning over noodles in five huge woks in the Hutong food court underneath Lot 10 shopping center. In operation in KL since 1927, this stall serves deliciously sticky hokkien mee – thick egg noodles, pork, cabbage and lard fritters stir-fried over an open flame with black soy sauce. You get a selection of the types of noodles, e.g. Mee, Mee Hoon, Kway Teow and Yee Mee. The difference is in the thickness of the noodles. If you are unsure, stick with Mee.
