Village Park Restaurant
This insanely busy canteen-style restaurant in Damansara Utama is well known for its nasi lemak (a fragrant Malay rice dish) and ayam goreng (a Malaysian dish of chicken deep fried in coconut oil). Operated by a Chinese-Muslim husband-and-wife team, the yellow-hued rice, cooked with margarine, coconut milk and ginger, is fluffy in texture and the rich flavor strikes a good balance with the tender and flavorful spicy rendang chicken and ikan bilis sambal (anchovies chilli paste). This is where the locals come for their nasi lemak fix; so be prepared for a big lunch crowd if you arrive after 12:30 p.m.
