Lou Kei, a formerly inconspicuous, hole-in-the-wall diner, underwent a facelift after earning a bib Gourmand in the Michelin Guide a couple of years ago and now includes a fully air-conditioned dining room with matching plates, teapots and cutlery. It’s no longer the definitive cha chaan teng, but it continues to attract locals and tourists, especially for its Shrimp Roe Bamboo Noodles. Perfectly al dente egg noodles are generously dressed with shrimp roe and fresh shrimp dumplings. Be prepared to pay higher prices, as menus come with good photos and English translations.
