Fried Carrot Cake (Chai Tow Kuay)

No, not the sweet Western cake loaded with orange carrots. This "carrot" is more of a grated white radish (daikon). The radish is steamed on site, mixed with rice flour and fried with preserved turnips, soy sauce, fish sauce, eggs, garlic and spring onions. It’s crispy and caramelized on the outside and moist and soft on the inside. You can have it “white” or “black” (with sweet dark soy sauce added). It's amazingly good!
