La Castillería

Retinto, the local breed of cattle, is bred for beef. There are no fresh pastures for dairy cattle in sun scorched Costa de al Luz. They say the cattle are rich in minerals given the soil and air and this is reflected in the majestic flavour. Any steaks from Retinto are regarded as being amongst the very best in Spain and here at La Castelleria, they are expertly cooked over coals in a fabulous garden setting in the small hamlet of Santa Lucia, just at the base of Vejer. Here I recommend Taberner, local deep and rich red wine.
