Vicente by Carnalentejana

The site of this Portuguese restaurant originally was a coal house, beautifully restored while keeping the old stone and brick walls. The DOP meat from Alentejo (south of Portugal) is the house specialty and the beef cheeks slowly cooked with red wine are fantastic. Entrees are served with sweet potato purée with bits of cabbage and pork sausage that pairs perfectly with the intense flavors of the beef. On the starters, don't miss the salt cod fritters (pataniscas). And on the pork dishes, the secretos (a tender and fatty cut of Iberian pig from Alentejo) are quite good. The wines are all from the Alentejo region.
