Osteria der Belli
One might overlook Osteria der Belli because of its proximity to the central square of Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere. It seems this place is happy not to have anyone and everyone in on its secret - honest, local and mouthwatering food. Leo the owner is Sardinian and has been running this place daily for more than 35 years. While Roman dishes are on the menu, this place excels at seafood and Sardinian cuisine. Try the sea bass carpaccio, the ravioli or fettuccine alla sarda (creamy mushroom) and the spaghetti alle vongole (clams). All of the homemade pasta on the menu is supplied from Leo's sister, who runs the pasta house around the corner. Be sure to ask what fresh fish has just arrived and have your waiter recommend how it be cooked. For its friendly service and quality food, Osteria der Belli is a real find in a touristy part of Trastevere.
