Palatium Enoteca Regionale

This wine shop/restaurant is in the high-end Spanish Steps area on one of the nearby stylish fashion streets. Given its location, one could be forgiven for thinking it might be overpriced or touristy. But it is owned and operated by the Regione Lazio (the state government jurisdiction within which Rome sits) and its mantra is local Laziale produce, from the cheeses right through to the wines and bottled water. The menu changes regularly to reflect seasonal produce, but if they are on the menu, try the buffalo ricotta flan with tomato jam or the gnocchi with clams and asparagus. There are some share dishes for those popping in for a glass or local wine or full plates for a meal.
