SUSHI
O Ya
At O Ya, the fresh sushi is garnished with sauces from both Japanese traditions (think moromi, the unfiltered fermentation product of sake brewing) to non-traditional (banana pepper mousse). The omakase offers creative takes on sushi and sashimi, followed by an excellent wagyu steak, and a foie gras sushi paired with aged sake. A must visit in Boston, but don't look for purist sushi.

SANDWICH
Bowery to Williamsburg
This popular breakfast and brunch spot in Melbourne does a killer Reuben sandwich - a mountain of pastrami with great spicing and plenty of lovely fat, topped with Swiss cheese and Russian dressing, on untoasted rye.

Les Gourmandises Restaurant
That guinea-fowl was one of the specials and an excellent dish. It was served with lentils, black pudding, caramelised walnuts, potato fondant and pureed beetroot. Absolutely superb flavours and so well cooked. Rare enough on menus here but this is worth a visit!

TEXMEX
El Tiempo Cantina Washington
We enjoy the Beef Fajitas at El Tiempo for one reason and one reason only: they always taste the exact same - delicious! They come to your table piping hot, and stay that way the entire meal; thanks to the Anafre, portable grill, which they are served upon. You can get beef, chicken, pork, and/or a mixed grill for those that want to sample a little bit of everything: chicken and beef fajitas, baby back ribs, sausage, shrimp, quail, pork, and a lobster tail. We usually get a combination of the mesquite-grilled beef and chicken fajitas, but the beef have our hearts. They are served with Charro Beans and El Tiempo’s famous green rice as side dishes. See the blog post at… http://ow.ly/IaSot

Indian Host
The owner of Indian Host is seriously passionate about Indian food, and it shows in his delicious menu, where he takes no shortcuts in the food preparation. All dishes have a deep undertone blend of spice and flavor. One of their most prized dishes is mutton kabuli raan, a leg of lamb marinated overnight and cooked in the tandoor. Even more simple dishes like the dal makhani, black lentils, are rich and packed with flavor.
