SEAFOOD
Paradise Beach

Paradise Beach restaurant is tucked away on the southern coast of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. It is a great place to appreciate the view of Young Island and enjoy a typical local meal. Waves gently caress the shoreline, and the simple yet clean decor gives Paradise Beach a laid-back and tropical ambience. Customers can enjoy local roti made with fresh conch, chicken or beef that are packed with ground provisions (a local term used to describe tannias, sweet potatoes, eddoes and yams). An essential local food is callaloo soup, which is made with the leaves of the dasheen plant. It’s a dish that represents the islands diverse mixture of cultures. It has a distinct flavor that stands out with its thick, rich consistency, similar to spinach, with a hint of spice, thyme, pumpkin and coconut milk. This soup can be paired with a stuffed crab back, which is filled with spicy seasoned and baked crabmeat. The meal is bound to leave the diner satisfied.

SEAFOOD
Tao

Tao is in St. Lucia at The Body Holiday, a world-renowned wellness resort. The restaurant has maintained its AAA Diamond Award since 2007. It has also been named by Condé Nast Traveller magazine as one of the “60 Hottest Tables” in the world. Tao is hidden away on a second-floor balcony in one of the most enchanting and secluded locations at the resort, which overlooks the Caribbean Sea. The gentle lighting lends itself well to the ambient and stylish Oriental restaurant; it’s an ideal setting for a romantic evening. The fusion of Eastern and Caribbean flavors is divine. One of the dishes that stand out due to its paradisiac combination of flavors is the Mahi Mahi, which is marinated in sake, with steamed mussels in garlic and coconut broth and served with jasmine rice. This is a meal that is not to be forgotten and shared with those closest to our hearts.

Athens
TAPAS
Ama Laxei

Athens’ bar terraces are among its best features, especially at night. The historic Ama Laxei tavern in central Athens has stood for nearly four decades on Kallidromiou Street, the most beautiful street in the Exarcheia neighborhood. The elegant neoclassical restaurant is a favorite with locals, especially on hot evenings when the beautiful courtyard landscaped with bougainvillea and palms is crowded with diners eating and drinking under the stars. The traditional menu includes such highlights as pork sausage with orange juice, mussels with ouzo, fish fillets with a walnut crust, vegetarian fritters and smoked eggplant with yogurt served on hot pita bread.

BREAKFAST
Country House Caterers, Café & Food Shop

Country House Café is nestled in a rustic house on the south coast of Barbados. Owned by Heather Richardson, who was born and raised in the Caribbean and grew up in the rich culture of Caribbean cuisine, this picturesque spot is not to be missed. The name suits the restaurant perfectly, as when entering it gives the feeling of walking into a home as one is greeted with pleasant smiles, “Good mornings” and the decadent smell of freshly baked cinnamon rolls with local grated coconut on top. Clients are offered a selection of freshly squeezed local, organic juices such as soursop (a large green heart-shaped fruit with a tangy flavour, used in drinks, desserts and ice creams here in the Caribbean), tamarind and golden apple juice. Paired with eggs benedict on homemade bread topped with thick hollandaise sauce, the day starts off on the right foot.

Koreatown
MEXICAN
Guelaguetza

This Oaxacan icon in Koreatown serves food every bit as authentic and delicious as its origin. Founded in 1994 by Oaxaca native Fernando Lopez, the boisterous, kid-friendly restaurant is famous for its mole sauces. Order a half portion of Botana Oaxaqueña - mixed appetizers smothered in onions, cactus and string cheese - and then finish with the Festival de Mole for a decadent experience. Expect to hear Mexican happy birthday songs at least three times per visit from the exuberant band! No wonder the restaurant’s name comes from the Mexican word for reciprocity: to give fully and to share selflessly.

Guelaguetza was recently honored by the James Beard Foundation, which awarded the family-run eatery with its "America's Classic" honorarium. Given to a "restaurant with timeless appeal, beloved in its region for quality food that reflects the character of its community."

South London
ITALIAN
Mercato Metropolitano

There are all sorts of good things to eat at the Mercato Metropolitano, the new, mostly Italian food market near London’s Elephant and Castle, from Neapolitan pizza to fried calamari, gelato to stracciatella cheese. But the reason you must go immediately, if not sooner, is for the focaccia col formaggio. The specialty of Recco, in the Italian region of Liguria, was praised in “Recipes From Paradise,” Fred Plotkin‘s definitive cookbook on the food of the Italian Riviera, as “probably the most addictive food on the planet.” The Manuelina Focacceria at the Mercato Metropolitano, like a similar bakery at the La Renascente shopping mall in Milan, owes its identify and bread to the beloved Ristorante Manuelina, which opened in Recco in 1885 and is famous for its focaccia col formaggio. This “focaccia with cheese” is not the thick, dimpled yeast bread most of us recognize as focaccia but rather a shallow, fragile, delectably crisp, divinely cheesy pie. Wait, if you must, for a fresh pie to be pulled from the oven and cut into slices, hot melted Stracchino spilling from the cut sides of each rectangular slice. It is messy business as the oozy, crunchy focaccia col formaggio breaks apart in your fingers. But, after the last luscious mouthful melts away, you will start dreaming about when you will order the next one. Take note: The Mercato Metropolitano and its foccacceria are closed Mondays.

Melbourne
BURGER
Leonards House Of Love

Leonards House of Love is a must visit burger destination in Melbourne. Like many great burger houses it has chefs with fine pedigree behind the scenes; Nick Stanton is a Melbourne chef legend and we have enjoyed his spectacular cuisine in recent years. The venue is a 1970's style retro vibe in the theme of a log cabin. It feels more like a clubhouse than a restaurant. The burgers here are some of the best in Australia. If you enjoy a double cheeseburger classic style burger then this is the place for you.

Double beef brisket & short rib patty, American cheese, special burger sauce, pickles and green oak lettuce. The patty is premium, juicy and with good amount of char. Add some bacon. Soft bun and gloriously melted cheese set off this burger.
