Restaurante Nicos

Nicos is located in an out-of-the-way area north of Polanco. is a hidden gem. It has been in business for more than 60 years and is used to feed such famous musical artists as Pedro Infante and Lola Beltran, as it is near Musart’s legendary recording studios. Recently, chef and son of the founders Gerardo Lugo Vázquez has taken over the kitchen and is presenting a fascinating and unique assortment of rescued 19th-century recipes that don’t appear elsewhere. The sopa seca de natas, a rich chillied cream dish is highly recommended. Another standout is the cerdo en adobo de antaño, tender pork chunks marinated in chile sauce. An ample wine list features many good and reasonably priced Mexican choices. Décor is dowdy but accommodating - no pretension here.
