Los Amigos is a homey paladar offering classic Criollo cooking, good music and jolly ambiance and it was the restaurant of choice for President Obama and his family on their historic visit. It’s also a hangout for musicians who gather at the entrance selling their disks and promoting concerts. The standout dish is Masas de Cerdo. Tender, bite-size chunks of pork are sautéed with garlic and cumin and served with the usual rice, beans and salad. Be sure to order a plate of tostones. The crispy fried plantain chips are among the best in town.
