Lasai is one of Rio's most exciting high-end dining options and sits at No. 16 on the list of Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants (in Rio, second only to Roberta Sudbrack at No. 13). At the helm is Rafa Costa e Silva, a young chef who spent five years learning his trade under Andoni Luis Aduriz at his legendary Spanish restaurant, Mugaritz. Like his mentor Aduriz, Costa e Silva likes to weave some surprises into his menus, so don’t be surprised if that fried egg turns out to be something quite different. As well as technical excellence, Costa e Silva places a strong emphasis on fresh, flavorful ingredients, with many of the vegetables being grown in his own gardens on the outskirts of the city. Expect bright, delicate flavors served up in some of Rio’s most stylish surroundings.
