Dim Sum

Chef Mak used to be a chef at the Michelin 3-star Cantonese restaurant in the Four Seasons hotel, Lung King Heen. Soon after leaving the hotel group, he opened a small dim sum restaurant with a low-cost menu. Within a year it had earned Michelin 1-star status leading to a reputation across the gastronomic world as “the world’s cheapest Michelin-star restaurant.” Mak now has branches in Taiwan, Vietnam and Thailand. With high-quality dim sum on offer at an average price of less than $3 US, who’s going to care too much about its functional and unpretentious dining room or its basic but perfectly acceptable service? It’s no surprise that there’s often a long queue. especially during the weekend. Recommended dishes? You can’t go wrong with any of the traditional dim sum, but you’d be silly not to try their outstanding Char Siu Bao (BBQ Pork Bun).
