Chihana

Chihana is in the beautiful geisha district, the “floating world” described by Kazuo Ishiguro’s famous novel. The restaurant dates to 1946, with head chef Katsuyoshi Nagata serving the sophisticated kaiseki cuisine with which Kyoto is associated. Presented on gorgeous serving dishes, the dishes are ultra-seasonal, a series of small dishes representing the different Japanese cooking styles. You may encounter silky tuna sashimi or prawn and pear tempura. Presentation may be simple but the ingredients are as good as can be obtained.
