Have you ever eaten an arepa with egg, pork, beef, chicken, rabbit, sausage, ham, capa meat and armadillo – all together? You can find all that in “the Beso de Negra” arepa. This “Kiss of the Black woman” arepa is found just once a year at the Colombian Festival del Frito (Fried Food Fair). Held in different areas around Cartagena in late January and early February, this event always presents this unique arepa. Why does it have such an unusual name? As its creator says, “Because us black women kiss with lots of flavor.”
