Doña Eutimia

This homely eatery, reminiscent of an Italian trattoria, can be found near the cathedral and serves refined but traditional Cuban food. It specializes in artfully prepared criollo (a traditional dish), and is undeniably the best place to sample such classics as ropa vieja. Their handsome and friendly staff seem to have stepped straight out of a Vogue magazine spread, which only adds to the pleasure of the place. The menu includes many other Cuban classics but the Picadillo and the Mariscada del chef (sautéed seafood served in a lobster shell) are a standout. Stuffed tostones, fried plantain ‘boats’ with four different fillings, make a great starter. Advanced reservations are essential as it is as popular with locals as it is with visitors.
