La Chaya Maya, near the Zócalo, is the best place for breakfast (their prettier branch, at calle 55 no. 510 opens at 1 p.m.). Huevos motuleños, originally from the Mayan city of Motul, are fried eggs over black bean slathered tortillas (hand made by cooks on premise), ham, peas, tomato salsa and garnished with fried plátanos. A Yucatecan classic not to be missed.
