Restaurant Atotonilco is one of several good eateries located in the cluster of ramshackle establishments in Popotla. Their red snapper prepared zarandeado style is butterflied, rubbed with ancho chile powder and garlic paste, then covered in a layer of aioli before being grilled over mesquite. The fish is heaped with succulent shrimp and octopus, red peppers and melted local cheese.
