Fuente Alemana
A Santiagüino institution, this spot has been pumping out the best lomitos in town for more than 50 years. The secret? Impeccable service plus a secret marinade for the lomito (pork tenderloin), roasted and sliced paper-thin. Grab a stool by the U-shaped counter, order a schop (draft beer), and let one of the veteran waitresses serve you the mega sandwich of your dreams. We recommend the classic Italiano with tomato, homemade mayo and copious mashed avocado. Or try the very Chilean chacarero (grilled beef with green beans, fresh chili and tomato slices). There’s no way to overcome gravity with these sandwiches. A knife and fork are indispensable.
