Tipico Bonao Sur
Asopao de Camarones
The Dominican Republic revels in an endless summer year round, but when rainy season comes along, nothing beats a piping hot bowl of Asopao de Camarones, a local shrimp and rice stew. To get a taste of the real thing, head to the Típico Bonao, located about an hour north of Santo Domingo. Capitaleños, or natives from the capital, flock to the restaurant for their hearty mangú breakfasts and other comfort dishes such as the Asopao, which is best served with a side of fried plantains and slices of avocado.
