Helmed by James Beard Award– nominated Chef Hari Pulapaka, Cress restaurant in Deland is one of the best restaurants in central Florida, with inspired, creative flair and dishes that are rich in flavours. Drawing from his Indian roots and southern sensibilities, Le Cordon Bleu–trained Chef Hari brings together a constantly changing menu inspired by the seasons. When they are available, you can start off with some fresh Florida fish ceviche, cured to order with cilantro, fresh citrus, shaved Florida onion, ginger, coconut milk, and signature Cress chips. The shrimp and grits, a southern mainstay, are delicious, rustic, and soulful here.
