Ghee Roast Dosa

Open since 1993, the canteen serves the best South Indian food in all of New York City. The dosa is not too soft or too crispy. You can even order it soft or crispy. A specialty, the crepe-like Ghee Roast Dosa is served in a cone shape and tossed with melted butter. It is accompanied by vegetable sambar, a saucy gravy of lentil and vegetables cooked with special curry powder, and coconut chutney, an exotic condiment made of ground coconut with ginger and green chilies. Their sambar is an instant hit and with the combination of chutney, this dish is a complete sweet, spicy and savory experience.
