Saigon Sandwich is among the first in a small enclave of Vietnamese-American eateries to establish in Tenderloin about thirty years ago. Banh Mi in Saigon is the best Banh Mi to be found outside of Saigon and indeed is one of the best Sandwiches of any kind in San Francisco... It is a toasted French baguette stuffed with a thin layer of mayonnaise, hot pork shoulder, room temperature pate, pickled vegetables, carrots, cucumber, jalapeno, cilantro leaves and stalks. The hot, warm and cold temperatures and different textures and abundance of fresh vegetables make this a masterpiece.
