Haiku Restaurant

The original Haiku (there’s one at the V&A Waterfront too) in town, in set in a timeless love-it-or-loathe it dimly lit space with dark furniture, reminiscent of chic Manhattan restaurants in the 90s. The first to introduce Cape Town to the tapas concept by serving East Asian dim sum, sushi, robata, curries and grills, it’s been running since around 1995. With kitchens spanning the length of the restaurant, you can expect rapid service, and dishes are brought out as they are ready. This is the place for sharing with an equally greedy other. Spicy chili and coriander lamb and prawn pot stickers and steamed dumplings aren’t authentic, but are very Cape Town. Dreamy coconut rice is a must with the curries and wok dishes. Keep room for the mango ice cream.
