For the last year, ExtremeFoodies has made it our mission to find the best burger in New York City. It was no easy feat. After 100s of patties and buns eaten alongside some of NYC’s best food experts and a few extra inches to our waistlines, we are finally ready to reveal our top 10 best burgers in New York City. 

 

We've spent the last 12 months on a mission to find the best burger in NYC. With 100s of patties and buns eaten alongside some of NYC’s most respected food experts, we are READY to begin our top 10 countdown. 10. Sebastian’s Steakhouse Burger @ The Brindle Room 

 

NO. 10 in NYC BEST BURGER COUNTDOWN: The Brindle Room in #Manhattan. This East Village spot serves up a juicy dry aged patty with a good crust, topped with caramelised onions & American cheese. After five visits & some serious talk with the team, we're putting Sebastian's Steakhouse Burger 10th place - an excellent achievement when you're competing against hundreds. 9. Korzo “Fried” Burger @ Korzo 

 

NO. 9 in NYC BEST BURGER COUNTDOWN: This late comer only just squeezed it’s way onto our list during our last trip to NYC with @allthingsmeaty. Korzo, this Central European restaurant in #Brooklyn serves a unique burger made with a fine beef blend that is encased and fried - then served blazing hot and cut into two sleeved cups of raging juiciness. 8. Luger Burger @ Peter Luger Steakhouse 

 

NO. 8 in NYC BEST BURGER COUNTDOWN: Since 1887, @peterlugersteakhouse in #Brooklyn has been a meat institution. Although best known for their porterhouse, you can’t leave without getting your hands on the burger. Prime grade chuck & dry aged trimmings from the short loins form the perfect patty, all completed with American cheese in a sesame bun. 7. Raoul’s Burger au Poivre @ Raoul’s  

 

No.7 in NYC BEST BURGER COUNTDOWN: However much we try to fight it, we are a sucker for a gourmet speciality burger. None pleases us more than the burger at @raoulsrestaurantNYC. With only 12 being served every night (but more available for brunch on the weekend), you need to be quick to get your hands on the cracking black pepper crust patty served on a soft challah bun with heavy cream and cognac au poivre sauce...DREAMY. #ExtremeFoodiesBurgersNYC

6. Minetta Burger @ Minetta Tavern 

 

NO. 6 IN NYC’S BEST BURGER COUNTDOWN: The Black Label Burger at #MinettaTavern may have rightly been the darling of the NYC burger scene opening in 2009, but we’re all about the cheaper Minetta Burger, awarding it 6th place in our list of the Big Apple's finest. Don't believe us? Order both side by side to see that this burger offers an insane beef flavor with caramelized onions punching each bite with sweetness. We’re not trying to be controversial, it’s just a better burger for your buck - what’s a burger without cheese anyway?! #ExtremeFoodiesBurgersNYC : @hanburgers

5. Bacon Cheeseburger @ Joe Junior 

 

NO. 5 IN NYC’S BEST BURGER COUNTDOWN: The Bacon Cheeseburger from #JoeJuniors in Manhattan costs as little as $7 and although we've heard rumours of inconsistency, we've never experienced it. On all four visits, the patty had some of the deepest, beefiest flavour we’ve ever tasted within a perfectly soft bun. Eat in sitting at the old-school diner booths for a real taste of NYC. #ExtremeFoodiesBurgersNYC

4. Grass Fed Burger @ The Beatrice Inn

 

NO. 4 IN NYC’S BEST BURGER COUNTDOWN: We’ve only got @jeaniusNYC to thank for introducing us to the @beatrice_inn burger made by the Queen of Meat herself @angiekmar. 45 Day Dry Aged beef, 9 hour red wine caramelized onions, & d'affinois cheese on a brioche bun. Adding the duck egg and a generous portions of shaved black truffles brings the price up to a rather spendy $52, but if you’re gonna treat yourself, you gotta do it right. #ExtremeFoodiesBurger #ThatEggThough : @jeaniusnyc

3. Single Patty Burger @ Boilermaker

 

NO. 3 IN NYC’S BEST BURGER COUNTDOWN: Now we’re getting serious. The single patty burger at Boilermaker, nominated by Yvo @feistyfoodie, this the bottom line: beautifully cooked to juicy perfection, an expert sear with an intense crust, topped with atchara (pickled carrots and daikon, fig aioli, lettuce, tomato and onion.) NEW YORK’S BEST BURGER: After scouring the city, we kept coming back to the UNREAL Emmy burger from @PizzaLovesEmily. Dry aged beef, Grafton Cheddar, cornichons, charred onions, and the Korean-inspired “Emmy” sauce. All topped with a pretzel bun. This photo says 1000 words.
