Jennifer Lee calls herself the “girl with a bottomless stomach,” and she loves sharing happy food experiences with other people.

The author of Kirbie’s Cravings, a food blog based in San Diego, Jennifer writes about recipes created from her kitchen and her dining out experiences in San Diego and beyond. Kirbie’s Cravings has been featured in such publications as The Huffington Post, BuzzFeed, Serious Eats, People, Cosmopolitan, Fox News, MSN, Today, Thrillist, Eater San Diego, San Diego Magazine and San Diego Dining Out. She also has appeared on the Cooking Channel's "Eat St." show and the morning show for Smooth 98.1.

Jennifer says her love for food started at a very young age.

“I come from a family of food lovers. Before I was of school age, my maternal grandparents would take me with them on their travel adventures. Before the age of 5, I’d already been to Japan, Hawaii and Taiwan, flown in first class, and eaten at numerous fine dining restaurants. As a result, I developed a refined palate at an early age and definitely had a taste for the finer things.

“My paternal grandfather also loved to eat and he would organize family gatherings around food. He taught me how food has the ability to bring people together and create lasting memories.”

Jennifer says her mother was a wonderful cook. “Even my afterschool snacks would be something she made, like fried rice, rather than just a pre-packaged snack.”

“When we lived in Long Island, far away from any sort of Chinese food, my parents would often take road trips to Flushing on the weekends, stopping at multiple places to eat and buy food, thus introducing me to the concept of ‘food crawls.’ “

Jennifer moved cross country to California when she was in high school, and when she enrolled in the University of California, San Diego, she fell in love with the city, the laid-back atmosphere, year-round nice weather and beautiful ocean views.

Armed with a double major in political science and communications, she attended the University Of San Diego School Of Law on a scholarship and has been a practicing attorney for nine years, specializing in civil litigation, contract disputes and construction defect.

Jennifer says she started her food blog in 2009 as a way to escape the stress of her day job.

“I had always enjoyed writing and entertained the notion of being a writer through most of junior high and high school before being pushed into choosing a more financially stable occupation. The food blog was a vehicle for me to continue my dream of writing and sharing my writing with others, and combine it with my love of food.”

Jennifer is living proof of her favorite motto: “Don’t talk about wanting to visit somewhere, or try some restaurant, and then put it off into the future. If you have the time, do it now. You don’t know what will happen in the future.”
